Cowes Baptist church works jointly with other churches in the town as well as with other Baptist Churches on the Isle of Wight. The ministers of the Baptist churches on the Island meet for fellowship monthly and the church families come together quarterly for joint meetings, normally with a guest speaker and a meal.
Christians from the churches in Cowes meet for prayer fortnightly and have regular prayer breakfasts. We also work jointly to organise various events such as fund-raising concerts for Foodbank and other local charities.
The town’s churches organise an event called “Holy Cowes” which runs during Cowes Week in which free live music, craft activities, face painting, home-made cakes, and drinks are offered to visitors as they flock into the town.
Cowes also has a youth worker, Simon King (a member of Cowes Community Church) who also works part-time for Youth for Christ, and acts in the capacity of an independent Christian youth worker in the town. The clubs he runs use Cowes Baptist Church for their weekly meetings.
The church is consistent in its support for Baptists Together (BUGB), Home Mission, BMS Worldwide, and is affiliated to the Evangelical Alliance. We have links with mission workers in Nepal, Zimbabwe, China, South Sudan and Chile.
